Happy 59th Independence Day Nigeria

Coat of arms Nigeria

Independence is very important in every nation. Nothing can be compared to freedom. We are no more slaves to anyone or any masters.

Our country Nigeria 🇳🇬 will be great. We need to be hopeful and make it work. We seek greener pastures outside leaving our own to perish. We need to make it better. Our ancestors had hoped same and we are still hoping.

Time will tell. Nigeria 🇳🇬 will be great. Let us work hard towards it. Let us continue to pray for it (I know we do). Some day, it will be better.

Having said that, there are people who are living very comfortable lifestyles in Nigeria just that there is a huge gap between the poor and the rich in our country. With good leaders who will pave way for a better Nigeria, the gap would be greatly reduced.

If only we can put half of the energy we invest in criticising our country in making it better.

Oh God of creation

Pllease direct our noble cause

Guide our leaders right

Help and empower our youths

In love and honesty to grow

And living just and true

May we attain great lofty heights

And build a nation where peace

and justice shall reign🙏🏼

May God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬

Positivity

Source: YouTube images

It is very important that our thoughts are positive most of the times. Positivity entails having an optimistic attitude and approach towards any situation. This greatly impact on one’s thoughts and actions and yield better results.

I want to share this quote with you.

Everyone has been made for some particular work, and the desire for that work has been put in every heart. Rumi.

I want to encourage everyone to believe in themselves.

There might be times when we doubt ourselves and want to give up.

It shouldn’t be so.

Remain positive.

Remember, joy comes in the morning.

Let’s feel challenged.

Let’s use our Gods given talents.

Be positive.

It is doable and achievable.

Time will tell.

Be persistent with your goals.

Remain positive.

Be positive and productive. If you like this post, do feel to comment in the comment section below.

RADA- Leadership Skills

If you name one person in the pic behind me I will name two😄

In this leadership training session, we were introduced to Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA). The session was focused primarily on “awareness” during presentation or before an audience. It is important that we know that the audience feel before they think. Be aware of this. It is an essential tip for any leader or aspiring leader.

Lecture note

A leader should be aware of their Status. In this instance, status means space and time, which makes up voice. At any given time, it is important that a leader know their status as this will affect how they are being perceived by others.

There are high(loud), low(sympathetic) and optimal status. For example, the Obamas of this world can pass for optimal status while Trump can be seen as high status. You can come up with a low status person, I don’t mind reading.

Another factor is Hoisting– This involves speaking with authority and confidence whilst being relaxed at the same time. For instance, your approach when you are in your home.

The way you treat people when you see them at your doorstep should be similar to how you treat them any other place ( i.e work, Uni. etc). You would want to welcome them and treat them nice, I suppose😄. That energy should stay same. In another post, I will be talking about energies in leadership.

A good host can be a good influencer because they know what to say and know exactly how they want their audience to feel. To be honest with you, I enjoyed this very session. I will like to know what you think too. These are very practical approaches anyone can adopt and improve on themselves.

To be continued.

Anatomy of Trust- Leadership Skills.

This is a piece from a Leadership course I attended recently. Thanks to Florence Nightingale Foundation. I had mentioned earlier that I will be sharing some valuable tips.

Have you heard of BRAVING?

Anatomy of Trust by Brene Brown is a very insightful piece that enables one to truly understand what trust truly means. The very first time I came across it, I was like there’s no way I’m not gonna share this with you😄

You need to know it and inculcate it in your persona. I have learnt that there is more to the word trust than mere 5 letters.

For instance, what are the little things that people can do for you to trust them? Are they worth a spot in your marble jar? Do not ask me what is marble jar 🏺 please😄

The course made me aware of the weight of the word TRUST. It is very important that the various elements of trust is understood by everyone. Do take a close look at the picture below.

For instance, in Boundary, it is important that each other’s boundaries are clear, well defined and respected.

Reliability implies that over time you will still stay true to your values.

In same way, vault demands that when one shares information with you in confidence you able to conceal it from others. Is their information going to leak?

Generosity: Are you able to make a general assumption of me in my absence? Can you boldly say I am capable of “doing this and that” confidently in my absence?

Can I really trust you?

I await you response in the comment section. Do let me know if you want similar posts. If you like my posts, please subscribe and share links with your friends.

Woman I Met at a Party

A colleague’s Party 🎉

Today I’m going to share with you a mini encounter I had with a woman I met at a party.

It happened that my girl was dancing between a couple and I hurriedly dragged her out as I didn’t want to start looking for her amongst the crowd. The woman came to me and didn’t sound good at all.

“Why have you taken the little girl that was dancing between Me and my husband”. She didn’t hide her feelings at all.

I felt so bad and asked my daughter to go back . “She just wouldn’t stay at a place” I answered. I didn’t know the perfect answer to give her. Besides I wasn’t confortable that she was dancing in between strangers.

I tried sending the little girl back but she went the opposite direction.
I said sorry to her again. I really bad as I realised the dancing 💃🏽 little girl between her and her partner meant so much to her.

Reflectively, I pray they anyone looking for good fruit of womb will finds it soonest🙏🏼

I pray God grant that woman her good intentions. I pray kids in various places bring joy and blessings to those around them.

I hope you all have a fantastic week ahead.

For old time sake

    Memories can last forever

I’m going to talk about people that are worth having a spot in our lives. In this context, I’m excluding family, which means I’m focusing on people we are not related to.

At various stages of life, we meet different people. It might be people from high school, university, work, etc. Some of them we don’t remember, some become off and on friends, some are besties for life while some are simply there for when you need them.

Regardless of what categories they are and the memories you have shared with them, do hold onto good old friends. They are not easy to come by. It is very important that whatever you do, you do not forget people who stood by you through thick and thin.

However, there are times when people fail you and you simply part ways with them, knowing is for the best. It is normal in life. Just like the weather changes, times and things change, so do people. If the change is something you can’t deal with, let them go. Do not be in a toxic relationship with anyone. If they once made you happy and currently causes you nightmares, let them go.

I had a disturbing conversation with a friend last week and it worried me the number of things people have to deal with to be friends with someone. Of what use is a friendship if it brings no meaning to your life?

My friend kept saying she believed in “for old time sake “. That’s why she couldn’t notice a change in the attitude of a person that almost ruined her life. Although I know about “for old time sake” in friendship and tend to adhere it but not when one is being mean to me.

I’m asking you now, what does for old thing sake in friendship mean to you? I await your response.

In my opinion, value those who value you and encourage those who look up to you. I hope you have enjoyed reading this post.

Why Worry?

I wish the phrase ” why worry” can be that easy to comprehend. Sincerely, most times I ask myself why worry when you can pray. Does that ring a bell? Do you know that song? I used to sing it a lot growing up when I had no clue what it meant but now the reverse is the case.

I believe in God and I’m fully aware of how powerful prayers can be. It’s ok for one to desire something, pray ( ask God in prayer) for it and maybe get it or it doesn’t happen exactly when we wanted it or it doesn’t happen at all. That doesn’t mean we are abandoned.

God works in in mysterious and marvellous ways and his ways are different from ours and can be beyond human understanding. Nonetheless we need to put all our hope in God.

Worrying kills, they say. That means that worrying over something or a situation can be detrimental to an individual’s physical or mental being or both. Instead, it is much better for one to focus on some thing that brings one joy and gradually find a coping mechanism or plan for any specific challenge.

Always remember, Nothing lasts forever. Better still, no condition is permanent. Any thing that has a beginning will definitely have an end.

Friends, leave it to God in prayers. Talk to Him, ask, beg, cry; whichever that communicates your concern the most.

God does not fail His people.

I have missed posting regularly but I always remember my blogging community and loyal readers. God bless you all🙏🏼

To Each His Own

I was studying in a restaurant a lady when a lady whose English was not so fluent approached me. She admired the way I was typing on my laptop and told me how she is struggling to learn English in the UK.

She told me how she has been taking English classes and in search of a voluntary job to boost her English. She had studied Sociology in her country.

I asked her to read English papers and listen to English news as I know those will definitely help her. She reluctantly said that at home they watch TV all the time in her native language. I wasn’t surprised to hear that knowing it’s a norm for certain nationalities.

How are you gonna learn like that? I asked. Anyway as I didn’t know the situation surrounding her living or accommodation, I let that be.

Then read papers and take your studies seriously, I added. She seemed very focused to me and I admired that. I commended her English too. Obviously she is learning but she is able to convey any information across which is the main thing.

My Companions

I had to excuse myself and focus on my work as time wasn’t on my side. In case you have wondered why I was studying in an eatery. Well, it was a Saturday, I left the library (following it’s early closing time) and headed to the restaurant (which was open till 11pm) to complete a project in order to beat a deadline. So, I simply placed an order and chilled on my pc all through. That has been my situation lately though. If you find time please send it to me😄

I suppose to each their own…

Dear reader, I sincerely hope you find the motivation and strength to see you through in any challenge(s) you are currently facing, regardless of its magnitude. Do remember that the end justifies the means.
